Ethical Decision-Making

Ethical Decision-Making is an interactive class on the process for making ethical decisions. Students begin by defining their individual value structure and then apply a step-by-step process for making tough decisions when the choices are between two right answers. This class teaches students HOW to think, not WHAT to think.

This class is taught by the late Mike Swift. Prior to his untimely passing in 2004, he was a nationally-recognized leadership trainer and Assistant Principal of Student Activities at Chula Vista High School in Chula Vista, California. This video was filmed a little over a year before he passed away.

Swift began teaching a process for making ethical decisions after picking up the book How Good People Make Tough Choices by Rushworth M. Kidder at a conference. Swift contacted the author and got permission to summarize the book for his student leaders through a step-by-step process anyone can use when faced with an ethical dilemma. And the process really works!
